Book a photographer in Charlotte, NC

OfMe sends a photographer to you. Drop a pin wherever you already are in Charlotte, pick a session from 5 minutes to an hour, and a nearby photographer heads your way. Every photo is taken inside the app and lands in your private album as it is shot. The photographer never keeps a copy. Sessions start at $9.99.

How a Charlotte session works

If nobody near your pin is available, the request expires on its own and you are not charged. Charlotte is a wide metro and the answer will not be the same at 7pm on a Saturday in South End as it is at 10am on a Tuesday in Huntersville.

Where in Charlotte

You set the spot, so a request can start anywhere in the metro. The names people use are Uptown and the four wards, South End, NoDa, Plaza Midwood, Dilworth, Elizabeth, Myers Park, Wesley Heights, SouthPark, Ballantyne, University City, and out through Matthews, Mint Hill, Pineville, Concord, Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, and across the line into Fort Mill.

Charlotte spots that photograph well

• Romare Bearden ParkUptown's best skyline angle without needing a rooftop. The lawn puts the towers behind you and it holds up after dark.
• The Rail Trail, South EndMurals, brick, and the light rail going past. It is the closest thing Charlotte has to a built-in backdrop, and it is a walk rather than a destination, so a 10 minute session covers a lot of it.
• Freedom ParkThe default for family photos in this city for a reason: the lake, the bandstand, the bridge, and enough space that a dog can be in the shot without being on a leash-length crop.
• Little Sugar Creek GreenwayRuns from Uptown down past Freedom Park. Good when you want green and shade in July and do not want to drive anywhere.
• NoDa, along North DavidsonPainted walls, old mill buildings, and a stretch where every fifty feet looks different. Best on a weekday, because the weekend crowd walks through every frame.
• Camp North EndIndustrial concrete, big murals, and hard shade. It suits headshots and content days better than it suits a family of six.
• The First Ward and The GreenSmall Uptown parks that work when you have fifteen minutes between meetings and need something that is not a conference room wall.
• Latta Park, DilworthOld trees and porches around the edges. In the last two weeks of March and the first of April the whole neighborhood is in bloom.
• U.S. National Whitewater CenterWater, bridges, and trail. Worth an hour session rather than five minutes, and worth checking their access and parking rules before you go.
• The airport overlookPlanes low over the fence at Charlotte Douglas. A niche shot that kids remember longer than the posed one at the park.

A note that saves people money: public sidewalks and public parks are fine for a short handheld session, but private gardens, ticketed venues, and malls set their own photography rules and some of them charge. Check before you drop the pin there.

What people shoot in Charlotte

Headshots, because this is a banking town

Charlotte runs on LinkedIn photos. A 10 minute session outside your building in Uptown or in South End gets you a current headshot without booking a studio or losing a morning. Take the pin to the shady side of the street and go before 10am.

Family photos

Freedom Park in the fall, Latta Park in early spring, or your own front yard, which is genuinely the most underrated option in a city with this much tree canopy. Twenty minutes is usually the right length for a family with small kids. An hour is not.

Graduation

UNC Charlotte, Queens, Johnson C. Smith, Davidson, Central Piedmont. Campus grounds are the obvious backdrop and most schools have rules about commercial shoots during graduation weekend, so the sidewalk outside the gates and a good landmark nearby is often the easier call.

Dogs

Freedom Park, the greenway, or the patio where they already know your dog's name. Short sessions suit dogs. Five to ten minutes is about as long as most of them will cooperate anyway.

Proposals

Romare Bearden Park at dusk with the skyline behind, or the quiet end of Freedom Park. Because OfMe photographers arrive as themselves rather than as an obvious hired crew standing around waiting, the setup is less conspicuous than a scheduled shoot.

Game day and event nights

Uptown around the stadium and the arena. Short sessions in a crowd are what a five or ten minute package is built for.

What it costs

• Card payments only. Your card is authorized when you book and charged when your photos are delivered.
• Tips are optional and 100% of a tip goes to the photographer.
• Cancel free while we are still searching. After a photographer has accepted, a $5 late cancellation fee is recorded on your account, because someone has already started heading to you.
• Pro Camera, a session shot on a photographer's own professional camera, is in development and is not bookable.

OfMe photographers shoot inside the app, so every frame lands in your album as it is taken. Every photo is encrypted in transit and in storage. Photos are never saved to the photographer's camera roll, and the instant your session is delivered our servers revoke their access, so the photos stop being viewable in their app. No stranger walks away with pictures of your family.
